Flexible Process

The process in which a website is built is another important factor to consider when choosing a web professional.  Some processes are very frustrating, restricting and impact the quality of the final product. Make sure you understand all of the steps of how a web project will come together.

The Web Rock Star Process

After working for several professional web development companies, I noticed flaws in the process of how websites are built.  I understand that sometimes ideas and concerns arise as we see the site come together.  The way I build websites allows for flexibility in information architecture, design and functionality as we work towards a finished product. There is no need to nervously ‘sign off’ on designs as we go into development – wondering if there is anything you missed and be responsible for (and possibly have your boss come down on your for!).

In addition, my process allows for natural development of content writing. When writing content, at the start it can be difficult to tell how long certain sections will be. Will this section be it’s own page? Will it be a sub section of an existing page? Some web firms have a process which forces you into defining these specific details at the beginning.  Realistically, the structure of the content happens naturally as it is being written. It is very difficult if not impossible to know the exact structure of the pages at the beginning of a project.

With Web Rock Star, there is no need to jam additional filler content into a page to make it long enough.  Similarly, there is no need to cut content out of a page because it is too long.

Can work with your team

There are some cases where there are advantages to delegating tasks to different people.   If you already work with a designer, developer,  SEO specialist or marketing specialist I can work together with those people to build something that supports the goals of your company or organization. These people may already know what functionality is needed, how the site should look or what demographic you are looking for.  Furthermore, your existing designer may already have a vision as to how to create a consistent ‘look and feel’ across various other mediums such as print and video (if your business or organization does this).  Similarly, your marketing specialist may better understand how to integrate your website into the array of existing mediums such as TV or radio commercials.

One of the main concerns I hear from SEO specialists, designers, etc is that it is hard to find a developer who understands how to code in a SEO semantic manner or how to convert a design into code, capturing all of the visual elements. Concerns that I hear from developers is that some designers do not fully understand how to design a website which will translate into code very well.  Some strategists don’t understand the technical complexity of the feature they are proposing.  I have the capability to wear many hats – or just the required hats for your project.  I can work with your trusted business partners or team to add that final piece needed in your skill set puzzle.
